Both our structures, the Apartments ROSALPINA**** and the Residence RUNCAC***, are just a short way from San Vigilio di Marebbe, an idyllic village in the Alto Adige, at an altitude of 1,200 m. The majestic Dolomites, described by many as nature's most beautiful architectural creation, surround this village and its approximately 1500 inhabitants like a crown.

San Vigilio has also been defined as “The Princess of the Dolomites”. The name refers to Dolasilla, the beautiful princess of the Kingdom of the Dolomites, the inspiration for a number of memorable legends. Allow yourself to be inspired and retrace the steps of the mysterious daughter of the king, at the same time discovering these lands.

A blend of tradition and society

San Vigilio di Marebbe is one of the most renowned destinations in Alto Adige/Val Badia thanks to the beauty of its urban centre and the lively and social atmosphere of its numerous venues and shops. You can go shopping among the local artisan workshops, and discover the traditions of the Alto Adige, or take a break in one of the cosy bars where, during the winter you can warm yourself with a delicious cup of steaming hot chocolate, while in the summer you can enjoy the freshness of an ice-cold aperitif while admiring the enchanting landscape of the Dolomites.

San Vigilio and its surroundings are rich with ancient walls and cultural treasures, and during your stay, both in summer and in winter, you can take advantage of the many museums to discover the  Ladin culture and the traditions of this fascinating area of the Alto Adige, such as the Museum Ladin Ciastel de Tor, the Nature Park Visitor’s Centre, and the new Messner Mountain Museum MMM-Corones on the peak of the Plan de Corones, looking out towards San Viglio. 

In the run-up to Christmas, San Vigilio will delight you with a small but lovely Christmas market, one of many in the area, the most important being the Christmas market in Brunico.

Things to do in the summertime in San Vigilio di Marebbe

Excursions and walks

Well-marked trails, high-altitude walks and via ferratas in the depths of the natural heritage of the Dolomites accompany all the excursionists who wish to fully explore the area. Around the village of San Vigilio di Marebbe, numerous well-indicated forest roads await you for a relaxing walk, roads which are also suitable for your children.

For example, don’t miss an opportunity to take the Roda dles Viles excursion, a characteristic trail which leads through the Les Viles Ladine of Pieve di  Marebbe, where time seems to stand still, or the characteristic Roda dai Morins in Seres/Longiarü, where you can admire how the old artisan mills still work today.

Cycling, mountain biking, e-bike and free ride

There are more than 600 trails to travel by mountain bike and E-bike in San Vigilio di Marebbe. Many of these branch off through the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Natural Park. The area is also a permanent stage of the Transalp Challenge, one of the most difficult cycling competitions in the Alps. Furthermore, the Plan de Corones offers more Free Ride which are easily reached either by bike or with lifts. On various occasions, the Plan de Corones, just like San Vigilio, has hosted a stage of the Giro d’Italia.

For your moments of rest, don’t hesitate to stop in one of the numerous refuges in the area, where you can enjoy invigorating typical local dishes.

Entertainment and events

A wide range of entertainment and events offered by the San Vigilio/San Martin Tourist Association in collaboration with local institutes. These include international bicycle and mountain bike competitions, evening entertainment and various events for children, such as, for example, the “Children’s Olympic Games” or the “Dolomite Rangers”.

Climbing

Have hands-on experience of the Dolomite rocks, climbing on the steepest of faces. This is the objective of various climbers, who every year choose this area to fully satisfy their passion. 

In the immediate area of the Pederü Refuge, two rock-climbing gyms have been set up, which are easily reached by car. Experts can also enjoy themselves on the slabs of Cima Nove (at approximately 3,000 metres in height), one of the most challenging climbs in the Dolomites. the Diretissima Messner and the Heidi are also worth a mention. The southern face of the Col Bechei, with a series of alpine ways reserved for expert climbers is particularly difficult.

Adrenaline X-Treme Adventures

The San Vigilio di Marebbe zip-line is the longest in Europe. It counts 10 sections for a total of 3,200 metres in length. The highest section is almost 100 metres in height. This is the ideal place for adventure-lovers, for those who want to experience plenty of excitement!

Horse Trekking Mareo

Riding in the midst of nature is an unforgettable experience. The Horse Trekking Mareo riding school, with its gentle Icelandic horses offers you excursions on horseback immersed in nature, surrounded by the peaks of the Dolomites. For more information, contact reception.

Zona relax Ciamaor

Just a few minutes’ walk from San Vigilio di Marebbe is the Ciamaor beach relaxation area, which allows you to relax along the Valle di Rudo stream or simply play with friends.

Other sports and recreational fishing

San Vigilio offers various sports equipment which can be used by our guests, such as a standard sand football pitch, 4 tennis courts (2 clay and 2 with synthetic grass), 1 combination volleyball and basketball court, as well as skateboard ramps.

Furthermore, in the Rio Rudo stream which crosses the entire Marebbe valley, lovers of fishing can freely practice recreational fishing by meeting the required documentation and purchasing a one-day licence at the San Virgilio di Marebbe Tourist Association.

Cron4 swimming pools and saunas and the Kronaction Fun Park

Just a few kilometres from San Vigilio you will find the splendid Cron4 swimming pool and sauna complex (15 km), and the Kronaction adventure park (18 km), inviting you to spend pleasant moments with all the family.

Golf Club Pustertal

Lovers of golf can find a splendid 9-hole golf course 15 km from San Vigilio di Marebbe in nearby Riscone di Brunico, as well as a driving ranch.

Alpine skiing and snowboarding

In Plan de Corones/Kronplatz (2.275 m), one of the 12 complexes in the Dolomiti Superski system, you will find the most modern lifts in Italy, and 120 km of perfectly-prepared pistes will offer an infinite variety of levels of difficulty, lengths and panoramas.

Snowpark Plan De Corones & playgroundsnow San Vigilio

A cross between a run and a snowpark: PlaygroundSNOW San Vigilio. Here, you’ll find a well-equipped and challenging area for those who want to try out snowboarding and freestyling.

Entertainment and events

A rich programme of shows and events , including some of an international level, organised by the San Virgilio/San Martin Tourist Association in collaboration with local institutions, such as the International Snow Festival, Ski Shows and international ski competitions.

In the run-up to Christmas, San Virgilio will delight you with a small but lovely Christmas Market.

Night-time skiing

In San Vigilio di Marebbe, it is possible to go skiing at night thanks to the “Ciancross” run lighting system.  Access to the run is free of charge for those who have already purchased a multi-day or seasonal skipass.

Cross-country skiing

A 24 km run which forms part of the Dolomiti NordicSki circuit and which begins right in the centre of the village, leading skiers to the enchanting panorama of the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Natural Park with cross-country skiing. It is a truly fascinating setting, with excellent conditions, and the view over the Dolomites is truly sensational.

Alpine skiing and snowshoe hiking

The high plains of Fanes and Sennes, in the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Natural Park, in the immediate area of San Vigilio di Marebbe, are an opportunity to explore sensational landscapes via alpine skiing or excursions with snowshoes. There are various trails of differing levels. All sports enthusiasts will be guaranteed an opportunity to take on the snowy terrain.

Sledges

And for the young and not-so-young, there are various opportunities to practice sledging. The nearest run is the sledge run which begins from the peak of the Cianross run, and ends just a short distance from the centre of the village of San Vigilio. The run can easily be reached with the Cianross lift, and is also open 3 times a week at night, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Horse-drawn sleigh excursions

San Vigilio di Marebbe also offers the possibility to enjoy excursions in a horse-drawn sleigh. Come and discover the most beautiful areas surrounding the village, lose yourself in the surreal charm of the snow-covered mountains. Fun is guaranteed for both children and adults.
